A SECURITY GUARD with a local security company became an epitome of shame after he ran to a police station stark naked to seek refuge.
A source close to investigations said Clifford Sibanda (37) was walking alone along a railway line to his home last week on Friday at around 7.30 pm when he was attacked by robbers.
When he was near Entumbane suburb two robbers armed with an iron bar and logs pounced on him.
A source said they demanded cash and he told them he had only $17 on him and a Nokia cellphone.
The robbers took away the $17 and the cellphone. As if that was not enough they ordered him to strip naked and took away his clothes.
The robbers reportedly pummelled him with open hands but he managed to escape and ran to a police station in his birthday suit. A police report was made but the robbers have not yet been arrested.
Acting Bulawayo police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said: “I can confirm that we are investigating a robbery case where a man was assaulted, robbed of his cash, cellphone and his clothes. We would like to urge members of the public to use wide roads and never to use short cuts because short cuts are often risky.”
