Former Minister of Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Prisca Mupfumira’s bid for freedom has once again hit a brick wall after her application for bail at the Supreme Court was thrown out.

Mupfumira approached the Supreme Court challenging the decision by the magistrate and High Court to deny her freedom.

In her ruling, Justice Annie Gowora said the appeal filed to the Supreme Court was irregular as Mupfumira relied on sections of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act, which apply to initial applications for bail.

Mupfumira is facing allegations of Criminal Abuse of Office involving US$95 million, allegedly siphoned from National Social Security Authority (NSSA).
