CONTROVERSIAL politician Linda Masarira-Kaingidza has made up with husband Gilbert Kaingidza who was fined on two accounts of domestic violence for brutally assaulting her.
The apology comes amid allegations that Linda stumbled upon evidence that Kaingidza is working for a rival political party and is ruining her political career.
Prior to the alleged report, Linda is alleged to have questioned her husband on why he came to her wearing a strong deodorant when he was aware that it would badly affect her health, as she is asthmatic.
The confrontation did not go down well with Kaingidza who then became angry and assaulted Linda several times threatening to kill her.
On Saturday, Kaingidza took to social media to apologise:
“I regret having my family issues escalating in social media and beating up my wife on the 4th and 5th September 2019 for a silly misunderstanding caused by jealousy.
“We had a disagreement which I failed to handle amicably as a man. #BecauseIamAman I own up for my transgressions.
“Just like any marriage we have had our fair share of challenges and I publicly apologize to my wife, her family and followers for my barbaric and uncalled for archaic actions. What happened between my wife and I has nothing to do with politics,” he tweeted.
“Contrary to media reports that I intend to harm the person of my wife, I’m not a politician. I have been in warehousing and logistics in South Africa for 14 years. Seven years ago I met Mrs. Kaingidza to whom we have a 6 year old child. #BecauseIAmAMan I love my wife,” he added.
“However I’m worried about false media reports that target my wife through our marriage just to distract her political focus. I wish for a just world that recognizes capable leaders for their contributions to development, particularly women like my wife Linda Kaingidza,” read the tweet.
“To all those who have been trying to create enmity and dig negative information leading to the spreading of malicious statements about my wife, please stay away from my WhatsApp inbox,” said Kaingidza.
Contacted for comment, Linda told H-Metro that she has reconciled with her husband after the assault incident.
“I have since forgiven him, he just did what every human being is capable of, and he has paid the price for what he did. It’s now water under the bridge,” she said.
