Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) leaders have received death threats from an unknown number, warning them against taking certain decisions at their upcoming Executive and General Council meetings.
Writing on microblogging site, Twitter, ZCTU President Peter Mutasa said:
“We received death threats just before our Executive General Council meetings. Japhet Moyo ZCTU SG, Florence Taruvinga Vice President and myself have received messages threatening us about making certain decisions. This is barbaric We hold the government responsible and it must stop these attacks.”
Last month, the MDC flipped it on government, telling authorities they were in fact the so-called third force that has been behind continued abductions on government critics.
The recent period has seen some government critics targeted for abductions with the latest being that of Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association acting president Peter Magombeyi, who was abducted and dumped in Nyabira four days latter.
Government has maintained a curious silence over the incidents.
