Reports indicate that a teacher at Rio Tinto, Miss Loveness Tshabile, allegedly lost her phone in her office resulting in ten students being summoned and allegedly being beaten by the law enforcement agents and sustaining various degrees of injuries.

It is alleged some of the students are currently receiving medical attention. ZRP Midlands Provincial Officer Commanding Commissioner, Moses Mugande, confirmed receiving the report of the assault and said investigations are currently underway.

ZBC News is reliably informed that the officer in charge of Zhombe Police Station, Inspector Shumba, and Rio Tinto high head, Joel Kwashira, have since been summoned to the provincial headquarters in Gweru over the students’ beatings which have shocked the entire Zhombe community.
