Three brothers from Muzokomba area under Chief Nyashanu in Buhera have appeared in court facing murder charges after they allegedly assaulted and killed a neighbour over land boundaries.
The incident happened when the villagers were drinking beer in their neighbourhood.
The accused are Ndaramo Mutero (42), Julius Mutero (36) and Charles Mutero (31) and they appeared before Murambinda Resident Magistrate Dennis Mangosi.
Meanwhile, the case has been transferred to Rusape while awaiting trial at the High Court.
It is the State case that on October 4, 2019 the three accused were on a drinking spree in Muzokomba Village where they and the deceased Kasirai Masawi reside.
They started arguing over the boundaries of their fields and the accused and the deceased accused each of encroaching into each other’s fields.
It is alleged that one or more of the brothers caused the death of Masawi by striking him with a wooden log and hitting him with stones several times on the head.
Ndaramo Mutero is partially admitting the offence.
The accused also went on to assault the deceased’s brother who is admitted at Birchenough Bridge Hospital.
The matter was postponed to November 11, 2019.
