Drama in toilet as police bust man with mbanje and 16 bottles of illegal drugs

A DRUG dealer has been arrested after being found in possession of dagga and 16 bottles of illegal drugs while locking himself in the toilet of a local shop, trying to evade arrest.

Police, acting on a tip-off, arrested Prince Sikhosana (23) last Monday, after he tried to evade arrest in the CBD by locking himself in a toilet. Bulawayo Metropolitan police spokesperson Chief Inspector Precious Simango confirmed Sikhosana’s arrest.

“Sikhosana Prince (23) was arrested last Monday, after he was found in possession of 116 grammes of dagga, 11 bottles of broncleer, four bottles of Benylin and one bottle of Expectalin, which he was selling on the streets. He had locked himself in a toilet in a bid to evade arrest but the owner of the premises assisted police to get to him,” said Chief Insp Simango.

The value of the drugs found in his possession could not be ascertained. Sikhosana’s arrest comes at a time when police across the country are working tirelessly to combat drug dealing and use. Early this month, police arrested 66 individuals before confiscating a range of drugs estimated to be worth over US$2 000 in Beitbridge and Mbare in Harare.

Among the drugs confiscated during the arrest of 56 suspects in Beitbridge and 10 suspects in Mbare were sachets of dagga and methamphetamine. The operation was carried out by police detectives from the CID Drugs and Narcotics, amid reports that several houses had been dedicated to drug dealings across the country.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said police had carried out the arrests in response to tip-offs by members of the public.
