A Gweru man died on the spot while two passengers he was travelling with were seriously injured in an accident that occurred in Gweru on Sunday night.
The accident occurred along Lundi road at the curve of Southdowns adjacent to Himhood drive.
Zimbabwe Republic Police(ZRP) Midlands Provincial Spokesperson, Inspector Joel Goko, confirmed the accident and said police were still investigating circumstances around the fatal accident.
According to an eyewitness, Richard Moyana, the driver of the Toyota Voxy who was driving from the city centre heading towards Ivene, tried to overtake a vehicle at the curve after Lundi shops when he saw an oncoming vehicle which he tried to avoid resulting in the car swerving.
He said the driver who is now late then lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree before the car landed in a ditch killing him on the spot.
Two of the passengers who were travelling with the deceased in the vehicle were rushed to Gweru General Hospital for treatment.
Inspector Goko urged drivers to observe road regulations in order to preserve lives.
