ZANU-PF is set to hold an ordinary session of the Politburo at the party’s national headquarters, the Shake Shake building, in Harare today.
The ruling party’s Secretary for Information and Publicity, Cde Simon Khaya Moyo, confirmed the meeting in a statement yesterday.
“The Secretary for Administration, Cde Dr O M Mpofu, wishes to advise all members that there shall be a Politburo meeting to be held on Wednesday 5 February 2020 at the party headquarters commencing 1000 hours. All members should be seated by 0945 hours sharp,” he said.
Today’s gathering is the first Politburo meeting this year.
The Zanu PF headquarters was nicknamed the “Shake Shake” building, because of its resemblance to Chibuku Shake Shake, a type of sorghum beer sold in cartons. Constructed during the post-independence building boom, the Zanu–PF Building, unlike many others at the time, was designed by Zimbabwean architects, Peter Martin and Tony Wales-Smith. At the time of its completion, it was the tallest building in Harare.
