RESIDENTS of Yende are living in fear.
This comes after they found what looked like graves near their houses in the area of Daveyton, Ekurhuleni.
Audrey Shange told Daily Sun a gardener she hired to clean her yard found the graves.
“He came to me running like he had seen a ghost. He said he had gone to relieve himself in the bushes behind the house and found two graves,” she said.
“I informed my neighbours. We went to check and found more.”
Elisabeth Shange (66) said her son was found dead and mutilated in the bushes behind Audrie’s house in 2018.
“He went out on a Saturday night and never came back. The next morning residents found him dead,” she said.
Elisabeth said she was still in pain because her son’s killers were never found.
“I think the police and municipality want more bodies to be found here.
“People are being mugged here every day and the thugs are never caught. They just disappear into the bushes. These people are gambling with our lives,” she told the People’s Paper.
Community leader Chris Motsopi said they had held several meetings since 2017 to find something to do with the open space where the graves were found, but nothing had happened.
Gauteng police spokesman Captain Kay Makhubele said the residents should go to the police station and show the police what they have discovered.
