The government has announced that a Mutare woman who returned from China died after complaining of shortness of breath.

The woman is said to have presented herself to her doctor complaining that she was having problems with breathing.

She was referred to Wilkins Hospital for Coronavirus (Covid-19) Tests but she died on the way. A post mortem test revealed that she was negative of coronavirus (covid-19).

This announcement was made by the Ministry Of Information amid fears that the virus could already be in the country or knocking the doors since South Africa confirmed 2 more cases.

Said the Ministry of Information on Twitter.

“A Mutare woman who returned from China on 24 January, presented to her GP on 6 March complaining of shortness of breath. She was referred to Wilkins Hospital for COVID-19 tests but died on the way. Subsequent tests at Wilkins indicated negative for Coronavirus.”

They also announced that a man who travelled from Italy is currently in quarantine although he tested negative for the virus

“A male adult is currently quarantined and being monitored after travelling from Italy. He has no COVID-19 symptoms and test results were negative.”

“An emergency meeting of all SADC Health Ministers is being convened to take place on Mon 9 March in Dar es Salaam, where a position will be taken on the preparedness of the member countries as they pave the way forward on how to tackle Coronavirus in the region.”

Judging from the comments sections the country seems to be restless and fearful that the government is not being entirely honest about the situation.

Here are some of the comments:

“You can’t govern a country by lies… Especially when it comes to people’s lives and epidemics. You can’t do that. It’s wrong, it’s unethical, it’s uncalled for, it’s nauseating and it’s devilish” said one person

“Its very likely that you’re lying” said another.”

“There it is folks, our first coronavirus victim in Zimbabwe.”

Sad thing about it all is we will probably never know if we have it here or not. People have just been dying daily left right & centre, at home too, that it’ll just be a continuation of that”, added another.
