A WOMAN from Mzilikazi slept with a heavy face and sad heart after her husband brutally bashed her for attempting to cook him amacimbi that he brought from work claiming that his wife had got them from her boyfriends.
Narrating her ordeal, Nomagugu Tshuma (25) said on Saturday around 6pm her husband Nkazimulo Dube (27) went back home drunk.
“He came back with vegetables and amacimbi and told me to start cooking for him because he was hungry,” said Tshuma.
Tshuma soaked amacimbi after deciding to cook them but Dube had something else in mind.
“He came to the kitchen and told me that I should cook vegetables and not amacimbi as he kept on claiming that I had got them (amacimbi) from my boyfriends,” said Tshuma.
As Tshuma tried to defend herself by reminding her drunk husband that he was the one that brought amacimbi, she was given a serious hiding for talking back and “defending” her boyfriends.
“He started punching and beating me up using a kitchen stick. He also took a knife in one of the drawers and threatened to kill me saying I was disrespecting him in his house,” said Tshuma.
She reported her husband and he was arrested. Appearing before Bulawayo magistrate Lenia Khumalo at Tredgold, Dube pleaded guilty and asked for leniency blaming his actions on alcohol.
Found guilty as charged, Dube was warned and cautioned that he shouldn’t commit a similar offence.
