POLICE in Bindura have recovered property worth ZWL$300 000 following the arrest of three suspected robbers.
Following the arrest of the three suspect robbers several household items have been recovered comprising a star pistol with 18 rounds of ammunition, seven plasma televisions, 11 car batteries, 8 cell phones and 5 gas tanks among others.
Bindura District Criminal Investigations Officer, Chief Superintendent Jeremiah Murenje said the suspects are linked to 17 robbery cases carried out in Shamva mostly since January 2019.
“This gang is linked to 17 cases which we think we’ll clear, 2 armed robberies, 8 robberies plain and 6 unlawful entry cases which were all happening in Shamva. We still have others at large and our team is on its heels.”
Chief Superintendent Murenje appealed to the public not to buy property from dubious people as they risk losing it through forfeiture. He also urged members of the public to note down serial numbers of electronic gadgets or placemarks for easy identification.
“We would like to appeal to members of the public to always avoid purchasing property from suspicious people,” he said.
