Update on Zimbabwe’s Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases

Eleven people have so far tested positive for Coronavirus in Zimbabwe.

The Ministry of Health and Child Care confirmed in statement that the 11th case is among 21 samples tested by the National Microbilogy Reference Laboratory whose results were produced on this Tuesday.

The indivudual who was aged 79 and a resident of Bulawayo, unfortunalety passed away on Saturday after his condition deteriorated bringing the number of deaths due to Covid-19 in Zimbabwe to two.

The deceased had been admitted to a local hospital on the 2nd of this month (April) with a sore throat, cough and difficulties in breathing.

His condition however, deteriorated and he was transferred to the intensive care unit, for critical care and management.

The patient had no history of travelling outside the country, but had visited a local tourist resort in Hwange in March.

The Ministry of Health and Child Care said contact tracing for this case is in progress.
