A HANDCUFFED 16-year-old boy from Nkulumane suburb made a walk of shame to a police station after he was arrested for allegedly inserting his forefinger into the private parts of a minor causing her to bleed.
A family member who spoke to B-Metro on condition of strict anonymity said the five-year-old minor was left in the care of the mother of the accused who is a helper at the house last week on Saturday.
The family member said at around 4pm the mother of the accused bathed the minor and instructed her son to apply petroleum jelly on the child as she was busy in the kitchen.
“This is when all hell broke loose as the accused played with the private parts of the minor and inserted his forefinger until she bled. He then stopped and wiped off the blood with a towel. The accused sweet-talked the minor with sweets not to tell anyone and the minor kept the matter to herself,” said a worried looking family insider.
However, on the following day tables turned for the accused as the minor felt excruciating pain in her private parts.
“She cried prompting the mother of the accused to rush to the living room where she was and found that she had a blood clot on her private parts. She then washed her and changed her clothes. But that didn’t calm her as she kept crying. She only told the mother of the accused that she was feeling pain in her private parts but never disclosed who caused her that pain,” said the family member.
Her mother, the relative said, found her in tears. The minor then lifted the lid on her disturbing cries saying the teenager inserted forefinger several times into her private parts.
“The minor told her mother that she was feeling intense pain in her private parts. She noticed that she was bleeding. She reported the matter to a police station. Police came and took him to a police station. The minor was taken to Mpilo Central Hospital for medical examination and treatment,” said the family insider.
Bulawayo deputy police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed: “I can confirm that we arrested a 16-year-old boy who allegedly committed aggravated indecent assault by inserting his finger into the private parts of a minor leading her to bleed.
“Quite often members of the community sweep such matters under the carpet especially when they are committed by relatives or by someone who is close to the family but we would like to urge them to emulate what this parent did and make a report as soon as possible to any nearest police station,” she added.
