Reinstated MDC-T Secretary-General Douglas Mwonzora has reportedly told his friends that he will be sworn in as a Minister by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The revelation was made by senior journalist and former Daily News Editor Stanley Gama.
Gama, however, cautioned Mwonzora to slow down as his excitement was akin to someone “jumping into a swimming pool without water”. Said Gama:
"I have just been alerted that the MDC rebels led by [Douglas Mwonzora] have already told their friends that they will be ministers in a unity govt with Zanu PF soon. My bro, slow down, beware of jumping into a swimming pool without water. You will hit the concrete floor with your head."
Recently, Mwonzora denied involvement in WhatsApp chats claiming that he was planning with ZANU PF officials to take over control of the MDC. He said:
"There are WhatsApp chats being circulated on social media purporting to be a conversation between us and some Zanu PF officials who include Energy Mutodi and Oppah Muchinguri.
"Those chats are fake, false and malicious. They are designed to buttress the false allegations that we are working with Zanu PF ahead of our Extraordinary Congress slated for the 31st July 2020.
"Zimbabweans must just ignore those false WhatsApp chats with the contempt they deserve. These falsehoods are meant to divert focus from what is currently happening in the political field."
