Award-winning Zimbabwean journalist and film maker, Hopewell Chin’ono, has warned the opposition MDC against considering to form a coalition government with the ruling ZANU PF which he said is not keen on reforming.
He made reference to the 2009 Government of National Unity which comprised of ZANU PF and two MDC outfits, MDC-T and MDC-N which he said failed to compel ZANU PF to implement the much needed reforms. Chin’ono said:
"Dear Zimbabweans, don’t be fooled by this GNU talk!!!
"A GNU doesn’t change anything, ZANU PF doesn’t need a GNU to do the right thing!
"We should learn from the previous GNU, ZANU PF refused to implement Politcal Reforms!
"What is NOW needed is the total removal of ZANU PF from power.
"MDC would be foolish to even consider this! ZANU PF should Implement Political Reforms if it is genuine or else it will be swept away by circumstances at the right time!"
He added that ZANU PF would use the GNU to loot national resources.
There are some who believe that the standoff between ZANU PF and MDC is worsening the country’s economic and humanitarian crisis, they therefore recommend a national dialogue aimed at mapping out a shared national vision.
