The MDC-T led by Thokozani Khupe on Friday got an interim court order from the Magistrates Court to occupy the Morgan Richard Tsvangirai (MRT) House which is the headquarters of the Nelson Chamisa-led MDC Alliance.
The interim court order was granted after the MDC-T sought to bar Chalton Hwende and the MDC Alliance (MDCA) from coming to Harvest House.
The Magistrate Court ordered the 1st and 2nd respondents, Hwende and MDCA respectively, not to harass, assault or commit any acts of violence against members of MDC-T “in any manner likely to lead to a breach of peace”.
The order blocked MDCA from taking possession of the MRT House without a valid court order.
The Magistrates Court also ordered police to use all the necessary means to maintain law and order at MRT House and to enforce the provisions of the order.
Commenting on the court order, MDCA Secretary for Education, David Coltart said:
“If one wrote this as fiction it would be rejected as far fetched. MDCT having unlawfully taken possession of MRT House with the help of the army now gets an order from the Magistrates Court (which doesn’t have jurisdiction) against a party the MDCT and ZANU-PF say isn’t a party, MDCA.”
The court order was issued more than 12 hours after the military seized MRT House from MDCA and handed it over to Khupe’s party.
