A 25-year-old teacher from the North West was found dead on Wednesday morning.
The teacher was reportedly found strangled.
Khumontle Mokgosi’s body was found in her rented place at Magong Village near Mogwase.
Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone said the neighbours and members of the School Governing Body (SGB) conducted a search after the young teacher failed to report on duty.
“Mokgosi’s lifeless body was found with hands and feet tied up. It is suspected that she was strangled.
“As a result, a case of murder was opened. An investigation into the matter is currently underway and no arrest has been effected at this stage,” said Mokgwabone.
Mokgwabone urged anyone who may have information about the incident to contact the Investigating Officer, Sergeant Justice Ramosoeu on 083 616 0995.
News 24 reported that the North West Education MEC Mmaphefo Matsemela expressed sadness over the murder of the young teacher and condemned gender-based violence.
"On behalf of the department, I would like to convey my deepest condolences to the family and the entire school community. This unfortunate incident happens at a time when our country is grappling from the chains of gender-based violence.
“It is one death too many. As a department, we are fighting a common enemy called Covid-19 and we do not expect to lose our teachers in this way," she said
