CHURCH leaders have dismissed Prophet Forgiveness Nyakuweka, popularly known as Prophet Shamma, for his claims that some of the late men of cloth were being tormented in hell.
Evangelist Trymore Muparinga, Apostle Stephen Mangwanya and Apostle Benjamin Murata also dismissed the prophet’s claims that he spoke in spirit with the deceased local and international preachers that included Evangelist Phanuel Chiweshe, Reverend Benard Mzeki, Reinhard Bonke, Billy Graham, Ruth Nix and Rev Chitauro among others.
Prophet Shammah went on to claim that he has been given grace and anointing to predict one’s date of death citing one Gogo Murape of Domboshava who passed on four days that he informed her about her date.
Apostle Murata of New Life Pentecostal Church challenged Prophet Shammah to tell the world his own date of death if his claims are anything to go by.
“Jesus Christ was led by the Holy Spirit to the desert to be tempted by the devil and the devil quoted scriptures but we thank God that our Lord said on Matthew 4:7 it is written again thou shall not tempt the Lord thy God,” said Apostle Murata.
“In that context whatever Prophet Shammah is telling his followers by misquoting scriptures to suit what he wants them to believe, let it be known that he is being used by evil spirits.
“The Bible clearly tells us that false prophets would come to mislead even the elect and I want to believe he is one of them no matter what miracles he might perform to lure people.
“If he has powers to predict people’s date of death can he tell us when his date of death is?
“Let the church open their eyes and guard jealously their hearts from being lured by such false prophets who are after fame, money and women,” said Apostle Murata.
Evangelist Muparinga said the main purpose of the gift of prophecy is to edify the church and judgment is of God not for anyone.
“Mwari akava Mwari wekuti zvese zvaanoita zvinozivikanwa nevanhu haagone kuva Mwari chaiye,” said Evangelist Muparinga.
“In things concerning Prophets they prophesy in parts and not everything is revealed to Prophets and judgment is clearly reserved to God and not even His Son Jesus Christ.
“I am one of the people who believed Christ through the sermons shared to us by the late Evangelist Chiweshe saka hatirase tea pot nekuda kwekuti taguta tea.
“Handireve izvi kuti ndipinze Evangelist Chiweshe nevamwe vaataura mudenga asi kuti shasha iyi yakudakunyepera kuona nezvisizvayo uye hazvina zvazvinosimbisa kana kubatsira kereke yanhasi.
“If Prophets are after sharing messages of hell that means people following him are in danger since prophetic gospel is aligned to the word of God.
“Gospel is good news and does not reach us from hell and there is a day for judgment not days of judgment,” said Evangelist Muparinga quoting scriptures from Deuteronomy 29:29; Matthew 13:24.
Apostle Stephen Mangwanya of New United Apostolic Faith Church said people are not qualified into heaven by works but by believing in Jesus Christ who died for our sins.
“Prophet Shammah’s visions are not aligned to the word of God and what he must know is that every sin is done in secrecy,” said Apostle Mangwanya.
“God is the one in a position to judge people and not anyone who claims to have received such grace or anointing as what he want people to believe.
“Jesus Christ was crucified to pay everyone’s sin including non-believers and those found in heaven or paradise are the ones who believed in Jesus Christ not who did good works.
“Mwari haagamuchire vanhu nekuti varega kuita zvakaipa asi kuti vatenda kumwana wavo Jesu Kristu akafira zvitadzo zvevanhu vose saka unopinda nekutenda kuneakafira zvitadzo kwete nekuti hauna zvitadzo prophet Shammah ngavadzidzise vanhu simba remuchinjikwa kwete kuudza vanhu zvegehena izvo.
“We are qualified by Christ Jesus not by works,” said Apostle Mangwanya.
Bishop Albert Chikuni of Family Life Ministries International said such claims are unfounded in scriptures and the ultimate destinies of people are determined by God Himself.
“In Luke 16 Jesus Christ gave us an account of life beyond the grave of Lazarus and the rich man. If you check from verse 28 the rich man pleaded to go back to the earth to warn his brothers and this knowledge was exclusive of the departed and Jesus who narrated it,” said Bishop Chikuni.
“Remember most so called prophets are just publicity hunters, they say controversial things to lure people to them, and it’s a deceiving business.
“Real gospel aims to perfect people to become like their God, you, therefore, must be perfect [growing into complete maturity of godliness in mind and character, having reached the proper height of virtue and integrity], as your heavenly Father is perfect.
“The gospel aims to grow people in their minds and character and the mind and the body aligned to God’s will,” said Bishop Chikuni quoting Matthew 5:48.
