Armed men reportedly broke into ARTUZ leader Obert Masaraure’s home at 1AM and harassed his wife. This was reported by ZimRights Organisation on Twitter in a Tweet that reads:
“We have learnt and confirmed with shock the report that armed man broke into @ARTUZ_teachers President Obert Masaraure’s house at 01:00hrs. They broke the doors and harassed his wife. Obert was not at home. We condemn these barbaric acts.”
Masaraure has suffered at the hands of state security agents a number of times. Recently he was arrested for staging a protest at Masvingo Education offices where they were protesting low wages.
He has also revealed that he has not been paid since the government withdrew his salary and accused him of being part of the infamous January 2019 protest.
In the recent past, dissenting voices have been silenced by abductions. The government has often blamed an imaginary third force for kidnapping opposition and human rights activists and has also at times accused the victims of faking abductions.
