Police in Buhera is on a manhunt for Jacob Ruben Chapanduka from Nyashanu Village under Chief Nyashanu who is alleged to have killed his 60-year-old employer, Rosemary Ndava in cold blood on Wednesday last week.
Mashonaland East Police spokesperson Inspector Tendai Mwanza said Ndava’s body was found in Chapanduka’s room with her legs tied with an electric cable, her head wrapped with a white cloth, hands tied and a deep cut on her forehead.
“We are appealing to members of the public who may have information on the whereabouts of Chapanduka to come forward and report at their nearest Police station. It is crucial for people to make use of the Police screening process when employing domestic workers,” said Mwanza.
Ndava and Chapanduka went missing on July 15 and Ndava was found on July 17 in Chapanduka’s quarters some 20 metres from her bedroom.
The body was found by her neighbor Tambudzai Ebbah who was alerted by Ndava’s grandson (5) that she was missing.
The male juvenile told Ebbah that Ndava was missing on July 15 after failing to find her at the homestead when he woke up.
Ebbah informed Ndava’s husband Ezekiel Chakauya (65) who was in Gweru that his wife was missing on Friday after failing to locate her.
Chakauya asked Ebbah to search around the whole homestead.
Ebbah found the body in Chapanduka’s quarters and reported the matter at Sadza Police station, the body was taken to Sadza District Hospital mortuary for post mortem.
