Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Elphios Makotore has dismissed as false reports circulating on social media platforms claiming that some soldiers were attacked by swarms of bees in Kuwadzana over the weekend.
Speaking to this publication, Lt Col Makotore said the ZDF had not received any reports of soldiers who were attacked by bees. He also indicated that no soldiers were admitted in their military hospitals nursing bee stings.
The social media was awash with unverified reports that some soldiers who were enforcing the Covid-19 lockdown regulations in Kuwadzana were attacked by bees.
This is not the first time that opposition activists have been trying to belittle and denigrate the country’s security forces ahead of the planned violent protests slated for 31 July.
The same activists have been incessantly attacking security forces labelling them as poor and uneducated.
Analysts have condemned such brazen attacks on the country’s security forces, saying these were cheap tactics aimed at intimidating the forces ahead of the roundly condemned western-embassy sponsored violent protests.
