A JILTED man from Mutasa district who early this month undressed his former girlfriend before he tore her undergarments in public was this week sentenced to 12 months in prison by a local magistrate.
Pardon Madziwaidze (25) of Penhalonga appeared before magistrate Artwell Sanyatwe facing indecent assault charges.
He pleaded guilty to the charges, saying he acted out of anger and asked the magistrate for lenient sentence.
Madziwaidze will now spend six months in jail after six months were set aside on the condition, he does not commit a similar offence in the next five years.
Prosecutors told the court that on August 7, the accused was at a tuck shop in Liverpool, Mutasa when he saw his ex-lover, Valentine Mashanda passing by.
The court further heard Madziwaidze intentionally inserted his hands in Mashanda’s dress before using force to remove her undergarments which he later tore in full view of the public.
The matter was reported to the police leading to his arrest.
