A woman pedestrian was ferried to Masvingo Provincial Hospital in a critical condition this morning after she was run over by a speeding motorist.
She was thrown up into the air and fell hard on the tarmac after she was hit from the left hand side of the car.
There was drama at the corner of Josiah Tongogara and Hughes Street near Ace Garage at around 11am when an angry crowd meted instant justice on the driver of the black VW Passat who attempted to flee after causing the accident.
There are fears that the woman broke her leg and could also have suffered serious injuries to the head as she was bleeding from the ears, nose and the mouth.
Efforts to get a comment from Masvingo Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Charity Mazula were futile.
Zanu-PF provincial commissar Jevas Masosota ferried the injured woman to hospital.
“The woman broke her leg and was bleeding,” said Masosota.
