VP Chiwenga receives full closet backing of Russian leader Putin to become Zimbabwe’s president?


Vice President, Rtd General Constantino Chiwenga, has reportedly received the full closet backing of Russian leader, Vladmir Putin, to become Zimbabwe’s president, as and when beleaguered President Emmerson Mnangagwa, is recalled by Zanu PF to step down, possibly before year end or no later than July 2021, Spotlight Zimbabwe, has been told.

Senior ruling party politburo sources, this week said Mnangagwa is under immense pressure to relinquish power, and that VP Chiwenga has seemingly become Russia’s preferred presidential successor, to secure Moscow’s mining interests in the country, especially diamonds and platinum.

VP Chiwenga, is also said to have received Putin’s shower of praises, after the army gave a green-light for Russia to be allowed to dig the country’s biggest platinum mine, owned by Russia’s Vi Holding and Zimbabwean investors, in a project valued at US$2 billion.
