A former soldier has surrendered himself to Mwenezi Police two weeks after a suspected cattle thief was murdered in his village by a mob.
Efforts to get a comment from Masvingo Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Charity Mazula were futile.
The Mirror is reliably informed that Simanga Masaidze (44) of Peter Perengwe Village under Chief Mazetese handed himself in on September 25.
The sources also said that Masaidze told Police that Kudakwashe Hlangani’s family, relatives and neighbors were accusing him of the murder for failing to settle their disputes at the local courts or chief’s court.
Hlangani was murdered by a mob in his home village two weeks ago that suspected him of stock theft.
Four other suspects, Simon Matongo (18), Morerest Chivasa (21), Tinashe Machesa (20), and Ricardo Moyo (18) were arrested and appeared before Mwenezi Resident Magistrate Honesty Musiiwa on Monday last week.
They were remanded in custody to October 6, 2020.
