Armed Form 4 boy shot dead after being caught hiding in pantry at neighbour’s house


A Chinhoyi man appeared in court charged with murder.

Humphrey Gara (40) of 09 Strip Road, Orange Groove, Chinhoyi, appeared before Chinhoyi provincial magistrate Lisa Mutendereki, charged with one count of murder.

Gara said he shot the deceased who was a four form pupil at Nemakonde High School after he gained entry into a house in the low density suburb of Orange Groove with the intention of stealing.

The student was found hiding in a pantry holding a machete and a garden fork.

Upon discovering that he had been cornered, he charged towards the family members who were standing by the pantry door.

Gara, a son in law to Alice Muzondo, (60), who was armed with a revolver, fired towards the student and shot him on the forehead and he died.

The student was putting on a balaclava to hide his face.

Gara was remanded out of custody to December 11, for routine remand.
