ZANU PF Central Committee member Madeyi Maswi has died due to Covid 19 pandemic.
She was 54.
Family spokesperson Takunda Maswi who is also her son confirmed the death.
“She died yesterday at St Anne’s hospital after she tested positive to Covid 19 and was hospitalized for more than a week,” Tatenda said.
He said the family is in shock and she was their strength.
She is survived by her husband Christopher and three children Tanyaradzwa (26), Takundwa(24) and Tinotenda (20).
Mashonaland Central party chairperson Kazembe Kazembe she was very instrumental in party business.
“We have lost a very hard working person, she represented the party at Constitution Parliamentary Select Committee (COPAC) and Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) among other important bodies,”Kazembe said.
“At one point she was sent to China to the China Communist Party in an exchange program,” he added.
Meanwhile, Covid 19 has ravaged many ZANU PF big wigs and the country received 200 000 donated doses of Covid 19 vaccine from China on Monday.
Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga became the first citizen to get the first shot of the two-dose Chinese Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine on Thursday.
