A 59-year-old Glen Norah woman was injured during a chase between police and commuter omnibuses on Friday night.
The victim Peggy Chakabveyo says she was walking along the pavement when she was hit by a kombi that was being chased by police.
“I heard the cars coming and so I decided to walk on the pavement for fear of getting run over.
“When I got hit by the kombi it did not stop.
“My head hit the ground as I fell and I could feel the tyre run over my right leg,” she recalls.
“A taxi driver who witnessed the accident quickly moved me away.
“No police came; not even one came until later,” she said.
She said when police came later she was referred to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals or Sally Mugabe Central Hospital for medical help.
She said she told the taxi driver to take her home where she later sought medication.
“Mushikashikas cause so many accidents.
“The police should have helped, if it had not been for the taxi driver’s assistance, I would have slept in town that night.”
