A POLICE officer appeared in court yesterday for reportedly rap_ing his neighbour’s sister (16).
Thembinkosi Proceed Dube was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Richard Mangosi.
He was released on $5000 bail and was ordered to report once every week on Fridays at Harare Central Police Station.
The court heard that Dube and the complainant’s sister are neighbours at the police hostels and the complainant resides there with her sister.
The court heard that in June last year, Dube proposed love to the complainant, but was turned down and a couple of days later, he saw the complainant entering the bathroom that is adjacent to his room and followed her.
He reportedly blocked her from exiting the bathroom questioning her why she rejected his proposal and she later accepted and he allowed her to leave but she later texted him saying she had only accepted because she wanted to leave.
The next day he reportedly invited her into his room to tell him face-to-face that she didn’t love him and when she got in he locked the door and rap_ed her and threatened her not to tell anyone as he was wiping blood from her privates.
She reportedly didn’t inform anyone about the incident and she went on to return to Banket for her O Level examinations.
He reportedly rap_ed her again in February this year.
The matter came to light when the complainant’s sister saw messages on her phone suggesting that she had an intimate affair with Dube.
Lancelot Mutsokoti appeared for the State.
