HORROR: Body of man found burning near magistrates court

In a chilling murder case, the decapitated body of Lavawa Salani a security guard at Maria Mabasa Scrap Camp in Chiredzi was found burning on Saturday with some body parts missing.

The body was burnt using tyres and further investigations led to the deceased man’s head which was found buried in the ground about a few kilometers away.

Masvingo Police spokesperson, Kudakwashe Dehwa confirmed the incident to The Mirror.

Salani’s body was found a few kilometres from Chiredzi Magistrates Court. The deceased lived at 3 Hectares Buffalo Range in Chiredzi.

Sources told The Mirror that Salani worked for Maria Mabasa Scrap Collection, a company which specialises in garabage collection and recycling.

The deceased went to work at 6pm on Friday and the following morning his colleague Brian Mandikisa(28) went to relieve him but Salani was not at his workstation. Mandikisa alerted his employer who reported the case to Police and a search was conducted on Saturday.

Police investigated and noticed blood stains on bales containing garbage. They followed the blood stains and came to a burning fire and discovered a human body in the fire.

The body had no head. They searched the area and found the deceased’s head buried in a shallow hole a few kilometres away.

This is the third murder in Chiredzi in a week. Last Monday a man’s body was found decomposing at Nandi railway line in a suspected robbery case. On Friday a herdboy allegedly killed a man who told the herdboy to remove his cattle from his field.
