A Bulawayo man has lost his life over a US$2 debt owed to his friend.
Police have so far arrested Shepherd Nhliziyo, 28, following a dispute that ensued last Thursday in Bulawayo’s Mabutweni.
According to a police report, the complainant who was owing the US$2 escaped unhurt.
Nhliziyo and other suspects still at large then went on a rampage axing six victims who are now admitted at Mpilo Hospital.
“The complainant escaped and the suspects went on a rampage axing seven victims with axes.
“One of the victims, an unknown male adult, succumbed to the injuries and the other six are admitted at Mpilo hospital where they are receiving treatment,” reads a police report.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has appealed for information leading to the arrest of the other suspects.
“Police are appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of the outstanding suspects.”
Meanwhile, a Lupane man was on Friday arrested for fatally stabbing a minor (5) several times on the stomach before cutting the victim’s throat.
Investigations behind the commission of the offence are underway.
Police say they are concerned with the increase in the number of murder cases and have urged members of the public to seek counselling.
