Three nak_ed witches allegedly dropped at Johanne Masowe shrine at Mazongororo some 15km from Mpandawana where prayers were going on on Saturday, the leader of the church Madzibaba Joshua has said.
Madzibaba Joshua (31) whose real name is Shepherd Nduru said the witches, all from the Growth Point were looking for one of their colleagues who had dumped the trade and joined the church. He said that the witches carried rabbits, beads and a knobkerry (tsvimbo, tsuro nezvuma)”.
Nduru declined to give the full names of the witches or their pictures but he said that one Constance (now Madzimai Martha) belong to one group of witches and they would take turns to kill a relative or a child for meat. However, Constance deserted the group and joined Johanne Masowe when it was her turn to have a child killed.
This angered the other three who started looking for Madzimai Martha but because of the powerful prayers of Tendai Gwatidzo (Madzibaba Edbon) the leader of the church, the three nak_ed witches dropped at the shrine where Madzimai Martha was among the congregants praying at night.
“During a prayer by Madzibaba Edbon, Madzimai Martha started manifesting making sounds of an owl (zizi). As the congregants sung more there was a strong wind and three naked women appeared,” said Madzibaba Joshua. The witches confirmed at the church that they were looking for Constance who ran away and joined the church when it became her turn to kill her grandchild. The three witches were delivered and made to surrender all their tools of trade.
They are still to surrender their snakes, hyena and beads. They were released before dawn to go back home as their husbands would have died in their sleep had the witches arrived home after dawn, said Nduru.
Some members of Johanne Masowe, Ellen Mazhinji and Emillia Matope who claimed to have been at the church also confirmed the incident. The Mirror is told that Madzibaba Edbon has been Johane Masowe leader since 2005.
