Police in Bulawayo on Sunday arrested three armed robbers after their vehicle had developed a mechanical fault near Ntabazinduna Tollgate.
The three robbers were named by police as Stephan Kelvin (29), Mapfumo Kudakwashe (27) and Mashangeni Antony (40).
They were part of a five-member gang that raided a home at Village 5B Heany Junction, Fort Rixon, and stole property worth US$4 480 from two women. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said on Twitter:
“The suspects together with two others still on the run, stormed a home armed with knives, iron bars and machetes before attacking two women.
“They stole property valued at US$4 480 which they loaded in a Nissan Caravan vehicle AFE 4548.
“The vehicle later developed a fault near Ntabazinduna Tollgate, Bulawayo leading to their arrest.”
In an unrelated incident, the ZRP has warned criminals targeting national infrastructures such as copper cables and other essential equipment.
Police said on Friday last week, they arrested four suspects in Mwenezi including three juveniles for theft of copper cables in Rutenga.
