Update: Zanu PF Chairman Chiyangwa was shot by CIOs

PROMINENT Bulawayo businessman Joe Chiyangwa could have been shot by members of the Central Intelligence Organisation, sources have claimed.

Chiyangwa, the Zanu-PF Bulawayo Central District chairperson who also runs a security company in the city, was admitted on Tuesday evening after he was found lying in a pool of blood outside his Burnside home.

Early this year, Chiyangwa was reportedly abducted and beaten up by members of the CIO over a botched deal he had with one of the dreaded guys. He was taken to Matopos Road and was assaulted with electric cables all over the body.

After the assault, Chiyangwa was dumped outside his offices at Fidelity Building.

"Since Chiyangwa's initial fall out with the CIO, things have not been going well for him. There is high possibility that the CIO are the ones who actually shot Chiyangwa that is why he is not comfortable talking about the matter," said a Zanu PF official who spoke on condition of anonymity for security reasons.

The news crew visited Chiyangwa at the health institution and found him lying in his hospital bed in the company of his wife. His legs were in a case and covered with a blanket.

The politician is admitted at a Catholic-run hospital in Bulawayo, Mater Dei Hospital.

"He was admitted on Tuesday after he was brought here with a gunshot wound on his left leg. The fracture is a bit serious and that is why it needs external fixation," said a staffer at Mater Dei Hospital.

As he is still being supposedly haunted by the alleged CIO attack, Chiyangwa could not risk telling the news crew his horror ordeal, instead, he alleged that he is suffering from flu.

"I am here because I have flu. Otherwise I am very fine as you can see," he chuckled.
