FORMER Rustenburg councillor, businessman and sangoma Appearance Palane (33) will spend Christmas behind bars.

He briefly reappeared in the Acornhoek Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 22 December, for a second bail application with new facts represented by Peter Malibe.

Last month Palane, who previously told the court that he would plead not guilty for brutally killing his wife Albertina Komane (30), dumped his lawyer Owen Mnisi after Magistrate Vicey Marule denied him bail.

Addressing the court, Malibe said: “I perused the record and found that the bail was refused previously. I still need time to listen to the record of proceedings.”

This after prosecutor Moses Sibanda told the court that the offence Palane was facing was very serious.

Palane has been in jail since August for allegedly killing Komane, the mother of his two children, and hiding her body.

Police recovered her burnt body that was hidden in his children’s bedroom in Buffelshoek village outside Acornhoek, Mpumalanga.

The matter was postponed to 5 January.
