A SUSPECTED fraudster, who had been on the run, saw his luck finally run out when he was dragged to court yesterday.
Pathisani Sibanda (not the radio personality) was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Tafadzwa Miti.
Allegations are that on December 10, Sibanda (29), and his accomplices who are still at large, connived to rob the complainant, Taurai Edson Mashiri.
Sibanda allegedly deceived Mashiri so he could supply him with United States dollars in exchange for Zim dollars.
Mashiri is alleged to have given Sibanda his bank card and the latter swiped $300 000.
Sibanda allegedly then gave Mashiri fake notes amounting to US$1500.
Mashiri later discovered he had been given counterfeit notes and filed a police report.
State prosecutor Anesu Chirenje, in opposing bail, told the court that Sibanda has outstanding warrants of arrest in three other fraud cases.
Chirenje told the court Sibanda was not a suitable candidate for bail because he had proven he had the capacity to flee the jurisdiction of the court.
