KWEKWE police have launched a manhunt for George Nkuluza Moyo who allegedly fled his home last Saturday after killing his wife over allegations of infidelity.
Moyo (36) of 16592 Mbizo 10 Extension is alleged to have fought with his wife after accusing her of dating her boss and having spent the previous weekend in Kariba with her lover.
Sources at Kwekwe Central Police Homicide Department confirmed the incident.
"We want to interview him in connection with the murder of his wife and appeal to members of the public and even his family to inform the nearest police station if they have any information on his whereabouts," said a police source who declined to be named.
Criminal Investigations Department police spokesperson Lawrence Machingura refered all questions to Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Joel Goboza who said he was yet to receive details of the alleged murder.
Local councillor Morris Chinwada, who is Moyo's neighbour, said the suspect stabbed his wife Senzeni Moyo (32) with a kitchen knife in the abdomen and left her for dead at their lodgings.
"The wife, however, got out of the house calling for help. It is at this time that Moyo noticed that his wife was still alive. He then picked up bricks and crushed her head until she died," Chinwada said.
"We are shocked that he killed his own wife like some stray animal. This is very sad and a terrible ending. My heart bleeds for Senzeni's family as they grieve. Nobody has the right to take someone's life regardless of the circumstances," Chinwada said.
