A Church of Christ pastor in Bulawayo has appeared in court for robbing and raping a woman in a bushy area near Entumbane suburb.
He appeared before magistrate Tancy Dube at Western Commonage Courts.
He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody to 25 January.
He was advised to apply for bail at the High court.
It is said Samson Mudimba (37), who is a pastor at Church of Christ befriended a woman he had boarded a pirating commuter omnibus with.
The woman intended to go to her home in the Cowdray Park suburb.
Unfortunately the kombi developed a technical problem near a fuel station at Matshobane suburb.
The driver of the kombi refused to reimburse them.
The woman, the court heard, decided to put up at her relative’s place in Entumbane suburb.
Mudimba told the victim that he was a police officer stationed at Entumbane police station and talked her into walking with him.
It is alleged along the way, Mudimba became violent and grabbed the woman by her hand while threatening to kill her if she screamed.
It is alleged he raped her in a bushy area and robbed her of US$54, $40 and R20.
She also surrendered a cellphone.
He walked off leaving her stranded.
She reported the robbery and rape at Entumbane police station.
An investigation led to the arrest of Mudimba.
