A 47-YEAR-OLD man from Bulawayo who took a 12-year-old girl for a se_x session in a room behind a supermarket where he operates as a vendor has been arrested for rap_e.
The alleged rapi_st, Mushauri Madho, from Nkulumane 11 suburb operates together with the victim’s mother outside a supermarket situated along Lobengula Street and between 2nd and 3rd avenues.
Allegations are that sometime in the first week of January this year Madho called the girl to his vending stall and the seemingly unsuspicious girl complied.
When the girl came, he is alleged to have dragged her to a room behind the supermarket in question. While inside the room, Madho allegedly had se_xual intercourse with the minor girl and in a desperate bid to buy her silence he gave her R100.
The matter came to light when the girl told her friends who later alerted her mother. The matter was then reported to the police leading to Madho’s arrest.
For the offence Madho appeared in court charged with rap_e as defined in Section 66 (1) (a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.
He was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to 7 February 2022.
