TWO sisters were last seen playing outside their home when they disappeared on Monday, 28 February.
An unknown man allegedly took the girls, aged six and nine, from their home in Mzinyathi, north of Durban. He allegedly took them to a bush where he beat, killed and dumped one of the girls in a dam.
Fortunately, the nine-year-old managed to escape, ran back home the following day and told her mother that her sister was lying dead in the dam.
Speaking to Daily Sun, a distraught mother (31) said the girls didn’t normally go out of the house.
“I always make sure they are safe. I never let them wander around the area. So when I couldn’t see them, I went looking for them. But both were not there.
“I started to panic as the girls had never disappeared like this before. I couldn’t sleep at night as we searched for them. We even went to a traditional healer who told us they were still alive,” she said.
The search continued on Tuesday and cops were alerted.
“On Tuesday afternoon, the nine-year-old came back home nak_ed and bruised. She was tired and in shock.
“She told me a man took them into the bush where he beat, strangled her sister and threw her in a dam,” she said.
The little girl led residents to the crime scene.
KZN cops spokeswoman, Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala, confirmed the incident.
