A man who accused his wife of two-timing him with other men committed suicide in his spare bedroom.
The incident happened near Chirisa Nationl Park base, Nembudziya, in Gokwe.
Benyu Markson Mazambani (65) got wind that his wife Chipo Moyo (35) was involved in multiple se_xual affairs with other men in the area, said a source.
Chipo said her husband launched a scathing accusation against her saying he was informed that she slept around with married men in the area. Chipo said they argued over the matter resulting in her sleeping on the floor.
“He remained on the bed as I put up on the floor. While I was sleeping, he woke up during the night and woke me up before he started to accuse me of cheating on him. He fumed at me and picked a knobkerrie and assaulted me with it.”
After that he slept on their bed while Chipo slept on the floor. Chipo said at around 4am, she heard a noise coming from the spare bedroom.
“I dashed to the spare bedroom and found him hanging from the roof truss and he had already died. I then notified my neighbour who accompanied me to a police station to make a report,” she said.
Meanwhile, Chipo said her husband had left her with two children aged five and 11. She said her husband was the sole bread winner and described him as a caring and loving man.
“He loved his family and was a very caring and loving man who led a peaceful life.
“Now there is no one to turn to for the upkeep of the two children that he left behind,” said the dejected Chipo.
