A ZVIMBA woman, who allegedly teamed up with her sister-in-law to assault and kill her husband, after a domestic dispute, has been arrested.
Mashonaland West Provincial Police spokesperson, Inspector Margaret Chitove, told H-Metro the two women, Rona Zvimba, 31 and Angeline Chinyere, 35, of Gweshe Village, Chief Zvimba, will appear in court soon.
They are accused of murdering of Douglas Makoni, 54, who was Zvimba’s husband.
Chitove said on March 10, at around midday, Makoni indicated he wanted to divorce Zvimba.
He ordered Zvimba to pack her belongings and go to her parents’ home.
Zvimba then teamed up with her sister-in-law, Chinyere, and confronted Makoni. A fight ensued.
The two attacked Makoni with sticks.
“Chinyere called Makoni’s sister, Memory Mandizvidza, 39, and Shaika Munetsi, 58, to settle the dispute,” said Chitove. They came and settled the misunderstanding,”
Zvimba and her husband retired to bed. In the early hours of the morning, Zvimba woke up and realised her husband was dead.
Chitove said Zvimba informed her husband’s brother Chrispen, who reported the matter to ZRP Kutama.
Chitove urged members of the public to solve disputes amicably.
“People must value the sanctity of life and not take the law into their own hands,” said Chitove.
