A man from Mpopoma suburb survived death by a whisker after he was viciously stabbed several times all over the body with a broken beer bottle for allegedly snatching a married woman.
The court heard that Tampon Moyo bumped into Vincent Mathe at Iminyela shops while he was walking hand in hand with a woman named Precious Cele.
It is said Moyo charged at Mathe for snatching his wife. The pair started exchanging harsh words. The drunk Moyo, the court heard, then smashed a beer bottle on Mathe’s head.
But he was not yet done as he severely stabbed him all over the body with the bottle. Moyo suffered multiple stab wounds and bled profusely.
The raging Moyo, who was all over Mathe, picked a brick and hit him, causing him to have a black out, the court heard.
A Good Samaritan intervened and rushed Mathe to Mpilo Central Hospital.
Moyo was arrested and appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Shepherd Mnjanja facing an assault charge.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded out of custody to Tuesday next week.
