AN inebriated Nyanga man allegedly murdered his four-year-old son following a domestic dispute with his wife.
Police said Washington Mawarira, 22, exchanged harsh words with his wife, Lisa Mabwe, after he came from a beer binge late at night.
Mawarira is said to have bizarrely told his wife that he "wanted to kill someone" that night.
Sensing danger, Mabwe grabbed her three-month-old baby and sought refuge at her brother-in-law's homestead where she spent the night leaving the suspect with their son.
The following morning on her way home, Mabwe met her husband with a blood-stained shirt.
When she arrived home, Mabwe found her son severely injured. The boy narrated his ordeal at the hands of his father.
Mabwe rushed the boy to Nyanga district hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Manicaland police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Luxson Chananda, said police had now launched manhunt for the suspect.
"We don't know the reason why the suspect vented his anger on the innocent child. People should seek counselling when they are involved in domestic disputes. As police we will not hesitate to arrest those who take the law into their own hands," said Chananda.
