A HARARE man has approached the court seeking protection from his wife who allegedly routinely abuses him.
Takesure Shipo revealed the alleged abuse at the Harare Civil Court where he was applying for a protection order against Irene Chididi.
Shipo told the court that Chididi was in the habit of assaulting him whenever he got drunk.
“I am sick and tired of my wife’s behaviour,” he said.
“Whenever we have an argument, she insults me and waits for me to get drunk so that she can physically attack me.”
However, Chididi argued that her husband was misleading the court.
She claimed they were having challenges and they had both engaged their families.
“I never assaulted him, he was only scolded by my brother once because he was under the influence of alcohol,” she said.
Magistrate Sharon Mashavire granted the protection order in favour of Shipo.
