A HARARE man is accused of demanding se_xual favours and abusing his former friend whom he claims owes him some money.
The matter came to light during a hearing at the Harare Civil Court where Berthinia Chaurura of Msasa Park is accusing Cladrianne Chikafu of se_xually, emotionally and verbally abusing her over a debt she claimed she was not even aware of.
The court heard that sometime in November last year, Chikafu went to Beitbridge to collect Chaurura’s car and she was to meet the costs.
“She was my friend and begged me to go and collect her stolen car and we agreed that she was supposed to meet all the costs.
“I then used my money, which she is now refusing to pay me back. She is now lying before the courts that we once dated or had a se_xual relationship, yet she was only my friend.
“She is pressing all these false allegations because she doesn’t want to pay back the money,” Chikafu claimed.
However, he agreed that he threatened her.
Chaurura vehemently denied she was only a friend but had an affair with the accused.
She claimed Chikafu also ordered her to give him back all the gifts he once gave her.
“He also said he was a member of the CID, and the ruling party, hence he was untouchable.
“I received threats from different people who ordered me to pay back the debt.
“I am not aware that I owe him since we were dating and I only signed the agreement to pay him back because I was afraid,” Chaurura said.
She said a police officer helped them settle the issue and also sign the agreement.
Sharon Mashavire, who presided over the matter, granted Chaurura the protection order.
She ordered Chikafu to pursue settlement of the debt with the Small Claims court.
