Masvingo man, 13 longhorns perish in bus accident along Beitbridge highway

A Beitbridge bound bus ploughed into a herd of cattle in Mushandike near Bhuka Business Centre some 20km from Masvingo along Masvingo to Beitbridge Road leaving one farmer with 13 dead cattle.

The cattle were crashed by Blue Circle Tours Bus last week.

Zimbabwean highways have become extremely dangerous as fences have been removed on all road sides making the highways accessible to both domestic and wild animals. There is no money to replace the fences.

Acting Police Spokesperson for Masvingo Province Nkululekho Nduna confirmed the accident and said investigations are still in progress.

Residents of Acton B, said the cattle belonging to a farmer from Village 22 whom they only identified as Vanyika.

The longhorns broke out of the cattle pen and strayed into the highway where they were crashed to death.

Efforts to get a comment from the owner of the cattle were fruitless.
