Police in Bulawayo are hunting for a self-proclaimed prophet who is on the run after he allegedly rap_ed an 11-year-old girl at her home.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and advised parents not to leave their children with strangers as doing so puts their lives at risk.
Insp Ncube appealed for information that may lead to the whereabouts of the prophet.
“Anyone with information may contact any nearest police station or call us on 2922-60358.”
Allegations against Prophet Tafara Jamera Sibanda (age not supplied) are that in March this year the mother of the 11-year-old victim engaged him to pray for her daughter who was allegedly tormented by evil spirits.
Most of the time the unsuspecting mother would leave her daughter with Sibanda at her house to do her errands in town. Sibanda would pray for the minor after that he would play games with her on his phone. He would grope her brea_sts and thighs after that he would buy her silence by giving her money.
However, from May up to 20 July, he took his indecent se_xual assault to another level. The unsuspicious mother would leave her troubled child with the alleged rap_ist and he would se_xually assault her before giving her money that ranged from R10 to R20 so that she would not tell anyone about the rap_e ordeal. She kept it to herself.
The se_xual ordeal incident came to light when the mother noticed a brownish fluid on her underwear as she was washing it.
She quizzed her and she revealed that she started discharging fluid after Sibanda rap_ed her. The mother reported the incident to the police. Sibanda got wind that detectives were looking for him and went into hiding.
